As part of the current I-10 widening project from SH 73 to Hamshire Road in Chambers and Jefferson County, the existing Brush Island Bridge, which crosses over I-10, will be replaced with a new overpass.
Weather permitting, demolition of the Brush Island Bridge structure will require night closures on I-10. The Eastbound lanes will be closed on June 26th, from 9:00p.m to 5:00a.m. The Westbound lanes will be closed June 27th from 9:00p.m to 5:00a.m.
During the closures, I-10 main lane traffic between SH 73 and FM 365 will be detoured onto FM 365, SH 124, and SH 73. Law enforcement and additional signage will be placed along the detour route in order to accommodate the traveling public and promote safety.
The I-10 frontage roads are not continuous in this area and are not a viable detour. However, they will remain open for local traffic.
The demolition requiring the closures is estimated to take two nights.
