Toy gun used to rob Kountze Tejas convenience store on New Year's Eve

A man robbed the Tejas convenience store in Kountze with a toy gun according to a Kountze Police Department news release.

KOUNTZE — A man robbed the Tejas convenience store in Kountze with a toy gun according to a Kountze Police Department news release. The call came in at 4:33 a.m. on Dec. 31 about an aggravated robbery at the store, and was responded to by KPD and Hardin County Sheriff's Office deputies according to the release.

The store clerk said the manager identified the man in the robbery as Xavier Lacy according to the release. The clerk was able to take the fake pistol from the suspect according to the release. The suspect was unable to open the cash register and grabbed the lottery ticket rack and left the store according to the release.

Officers were told the man left on foot onto a street off of FM 418 north of the railroad tracks according to the release. Lacy was found at his residence at 500 Cypress, along with the lottery tickets and lottery rack according to the release.

Lacy was transported to the Kountze Police Department and mirandized but refused to cooperate according to the release.

A warrant for Lacy was issued for aggravated robbery, and Lacy was transported to Hardin County Jail and was released to jail staff without issues according to the release.

A warrant for Xavier Lacy was issued right then for Aggravated Robbery a First-degree Felony. Lacy was transported to Hardin County Jail for processing and released to jail staff without issues.

His bond was set at $50,000 according to the release.
