Thrift store closing as Beaumont non-profit makes plans to create safe-haven for child sex trafficking victims

Harvest House announced the doors to Catch My Thrift will be closing in April. They want to make way for a 24-hour drop-in center for victims of sex trafficking.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Southeast Texas nonprofit is shifting it's focus to better serve victims of child sex trafficking.

Harvest House announced the doors to Catch My Thrift will be closing in April. They want to make way for a 24-hour drop-in center for victims of sex trafficking.

"We are so excited though for this next chapter," said Harvest House Education Coordinator Brittany Delagarza.

Organizers with Harvest House are ready to open a safe haven for survivors.

"We'll have counseling, We'll have places they can sleep, shower and get services. Right now there's not currently a center like this in Southeast Texas," Delagarza said.

To get the ball rolling on the drop-in center the nonprofit says they have to close Catch My Thrift, their store on Calder.

"We really want to thank the community for all support all their donations," said Delagarza.

The nonprofit is renovating a donated house which would hold at least 10 people up to 22-years-old.

"We do have someone who's started to do electrical things, and permits," Delagarza told 12News.

But they still need donations to get them across the finish line.

"We are fundraising in collaborating with a great local company called ASCO. They are having a crawfish boil with us. It's happening May 9. But what is really cool about this is they are matching donations up to $10,000 per donor. So this is really going to boost us and get us to where we need to be," said Delagarza.

Even if you can't donate, you can still help Harvest House and victims by staying vigilant.

"If you see something say say something. The community is our biggest efforts in helping child trafficking and that's what Harvest House is working towards," Delagarza said.

She says they will be setting up different locations where the community can still drop off clothing locations.

Catch My Thrift officially closes on April 17.
