BEAUMONT, Texas — The Officer Bryan Herbert Memorial foundation is once again giving back to the community, this time by giving Cadets Britany Good and and Maurice Whitehurst each a $2,000 scholarship to attend LIT's Spring Police Academy.
Good and Whitehurst both made their way to the Beaumont Police Department Friday, February 16, to receive their scholarships in front of the plaque of the OBHM's namesake.
"On behalf of OBHMF's board of directors and on behalf of the Hebert family, we would like to thank Cadets Good and Whitehurst for not only choosing a future in law enforcement, but we thank you for applying for the Officer Bryan Hebert Memorial Foundation's scholarship. This not only helps our future, it allows us to help you, and it's an enormous and meaningful way to help keep Officer Hebert's memory alive." The organization said on it's Facebook post about the ceremony. "We look forward to seeing what your future holds. Congratulations and best wishes to each of you!"
The OBHM is a non-profit organization that was established in 2015 in memory of Beaumont officer Bryan Herbert who tragically passed away in the line of duty in 2012. Since then they have been providing scholarships for Cadets enrolling in the LIT Police Academy each semester.
