Texla Development Group set to unveil Bridge City Beach

Clear water and a clean, family friendly environment are some of the beach's biggest draws.

BRIDGE CITY, Texas — Texla Development Group is bringing tropical luxury to Southeast Texas.

"I love this area and we need points of interest," said director of development Ja Cee Stanley.

Bridge City Beach is a dream turned into reality for Ja Cee Stanley with Texla Development Group.

"We have to have things to ensure communal retention. We have to have things for families to do," said Stanley.

However, if you drive to far down Jones Street, you might just miss the unassuming hole in the ground that hides a Southeast Texas gem.

"It's a sandpit that we have dug below sea level so we have a natural filtration system and seepage from the water coming up from the earth," said Stanley.

Clear water and a clean, family friendly environment are some of the beach's biggest draws.

"That's why we will not have alcohol. You know, in the future there's potential we can do the opposite side of the beach and do 21 and up," said Stanley.

Stanley says the project wouldn't have been a success without helping hands like Lamar State College Orange student Kimberlyn Carter.

"She's entrusted with me kind of helping guide the younger guys and getting everything set up and making it look a certain way, and I think it's gonna be really cool once it's all done," said Carter.

Students at LCM and Bridge City High Schools have also been making the vision come alive, and this summer it will be shared with the rest of Southeast Texas.

"We'll have a little souvenir shop and some grabbing go fruit cups for the people that aren't interested in the meals at the food truck. They can go come in this souvenir shop," said Stanley.

Developers say visitors can soak up the sun at their soft opening next Friday.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
