Jurors heard testimony from Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies, along with crime lab technicians and the autopsy doctor regarding the murder of Kevin Moyer in 2014. Jefferson County prosecutors said a dating app was used by a group of Beaumont men to lure, kill and later leave the body of a Dallas man.
One of the men, Arthur Harmon, is now on trial for the 2014 murder.
Prosecutors said 53-year-old Kevin Moyer of Dallas used the gay dating app "Jack'd," and was lured by Arthur Harmon, Cody Lewis, Yiannis Mihail all from Beaumont in 2014.
Today, jurors watched a 2014 interview where Harmon told Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies that him, Cody Lewis and Yiannis Mihail planned to rob Moyer because they needed rent money.
Dr. John Rauston testified in front of jurors today. He performed Moyer's autopsy and says the cause of death was strangulation from an elastic band called "vet tape" that was wrapped around his neck.
After the body was discovered, deputies searched Harmon's house the next week in April 2014 and found that the house was cleaned up, however there were blood stains in the bedroom where Moyer was beaten.
Those cleaning supplies were found in a convenient store dumpster on Concord and Steelton. Trial is set to resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in Judge Raquel West's courtroom.
