BEAUMONT, Texas — The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Disaster Relief has volunteers ready to help as Beryl nears landfall in South Texas.

Recovery teams, chainsaw crews and feeding units will be deployed if needed, according to SBTC disaster relief director Scottie Stice.

“Our teams are always ready to respond to the needs in Texas,” said Stice. “In fact, we have recovery units on standby all across the state.”

SBTC disaster relief is coordinating with the Salvation Army to prepare meals for those affected in case of evacuation, according to SBTC ministry facilitator Daniel White.

There will be clean up and recovery crews for debris removal and other recovery efforts. So far, there are crews in Kountze, Pflugerville and Bellville.

Beryl is expected to make landfall on the Texas coast Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
