Southeast Texas teens compete in Dairy Queen Blizzard eating contest ahead of Miracle Treat Day

Dairy Queen is helping raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals by giving $1 or more for every blizzard treat sold on July 25.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Children’s Miracle Network hosted the 3rd Annual Blizzard Eating Contest at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth to kick off Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day which will take place on Thursday, July 25.

Dairy Queen is helping raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals by giving $1 or more for every blizzard treat sold. These donations will go to local hospitals kids' health.

The 2024 goal is to raise more than $10,000 for CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System.

To celebrate Miracle Treat Day there was a blizzard eating competition earlier at the CHRISTUS where six people competed.

Students from several Southeast Texas high schools competed to see who could fight through the brain freeze and finish their Blizzard first.

Participants represented East Chambers, Hardin Jefferson, Vidor, Hamshire-Fannett, Kelly High School and Lumberton.

Dax Henley from East Chambers won 1st place. Keira Nelson of Kelly High School came in 2nd while Brett Baxter of Vidor High School and Lane Guidry from Hamshire-Fannett tied for 3rd.

Other contestants competing include Cameron Jenkins representing Lumberton High School and Reese Battle from Hardin-Jefferson High School.
