ExxonMobil on Tuesday presented contributions for 2023 to Lamar Institute of Technology and Beaumont ISD in recognition of their dual credit program supporting STEM career pathways.

"To increase an understanding in STEM careers and we can play our part in trying to close the pretty extreme work force gap here in Southeast Texas," said ExxonMobil Complex Manager Mike Mustian.

Mustain says that all Southeast Texas kids should have access to quality education.

"It's about getting back to the children early to let them know they don't have to leave their hometown and the place they grew up. To have a right and meaningful career," he said.

The credit union employees' donations were spread between Boys' Haven, Hope Women's Resource Clinic and the Southeast Texas Food Bank.

"We applied for the grant for Education First, and we are going to use those funds for a computer lab. We just moved our office from a small building to a big building. So that way we can offer those services in house," said Boys' Haven Director of Business Development Nicole Hayes.

Employees of Education First raised $13,000 and passed that money on to local charities.
