BEAUMONT, Texas — For just $10 Southeast Texans lined up to help make a difference in the lives of hundreds of homeless people through the help of Some Other Place in Beaumont.
On Tuesday, the nonprofit hosted its 22nd Annual "A Tasting For Some Other Place" fundraiser at the Beaumont Civic Center.
Proceeds from this event will go towards helping the growing number of people experiencing homelessness.

The executive director of Some Other Place, Christopher Robertson, tells 12News around 200 people receive a meal at their soup kitchen and that need costs major money.
That's why 44 food vendors are serving up food to help raise money for the organization. Between the community support and vendors that donated their time and ingredients, Robertson says A Tasting For Some Other Place is a true testament to how the nonprofit continues to push forward.
Donations from the community have allowed them to open a food pantry and three clothing stores for men, women and kids.
Last year they helped 70 people transition from homelessness and so much more.
"We've been able to help a lot of people apply for their benefits, they use Henry's Place as their address. We start to help them with money management until they can get a place of their own. What we don't tell them is that we're going to pay the first month's rent and deposit so you'll have a savings account when you get into a place. A lot of it is just one foot in front of the other," said Robertson.
He says they've also expanded hours at Henry's Place, which is their day shelter, they now close at 4 p.m. Spindletop Mental Services has also opened up a satellite office inside the day shelter to help clients.
