Silver alert issued for a critical missing Beaumont woman last seen on Sunday

66-year-old Linda Rogers is diagnosed with diminished mental capacity, according to BPD.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The state has issued a silver alert for a missing Beaumont woman.

66-year-old Linda Rogers disappeared from a group home near concord road on Sunday, May 12. around 9:55 p.m. in the 4400 block of Concord Road.

She is described as 5’4, 220 lbs., with black hair, BPD says.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans and tan shirt on foot.

Beaumont Police are asking for the community's help to find her.

The state believes that her disappearance poses a credible threat to her own health and safety.

Rogers' great nephew Joshua Chopane tells 12News it's crucial that they find his great aunt because she suffers from mental illness and he's afraid she could get hurt.

"I just wish she came home," said Chopane. "What has me unnerved and uneased is that she is bipolar and she's schizophrenic. And I feel like a random citizen might have the wrong idea of her and might not know how to handle her."

Chopane says Rogers disappeared from a group home for those suffering from mental illness. She had been living there for almost a year.

"She was staying with my great-grandparents since they passed away that's the reason she's transitioned to these homes. I honestly think that the passing of my great-grandparents, her parents has been taking a toll on her," Chopane said.

Chopane says this isn't the first time Rogers has gone missing.

Beaumont Police say the last time she went missing, Rogers was found near Dowlen Road and the Eastex Freeway. she was on foot and in need of medical attention.

"That's the most grave thing about this situation is that she [doesn't have] her medication," said Chopane.

He spent hours on Thursday searching the area where she was last seen.

"I've been all around Beaumont and tomorrow I'm plan on getting some pictures printed out and putting them up," Chopane told 12News.

BPD says they have officers continuing to check areas where they believe she could have gone, as well as stopping pedestrians to ask if they've seen Rogers.

"I feel like there should be some type of task force that looks for missing people especially people with mental disabilities," siad Chopane.

If you see her or have any information about her disappearance please call 911 or Beaumont Police 409-880-3865.
