Multiple fire departments converge to fight Town Bluff church fire

Chief Holcomb said that he is extremely thankful to the surrounding fire departments that showed up to help, as well as the community members.

TYLER COUNTY, Texas — A fire erupted in within Lakeside Apostolic Church on FM 92 near Town Bluff Saturday afternoon, prompting a response by multiple fire departments in order to combat the blaze.

Dam B Fire Department got a call about the burning church at around 1 p.m. and quickly sent out tucks to handle the situation.

They were met by the Beech Grove, Tri-Community, Spurger, and Woodville Volunteer Fire Departments who had arrived to help quell the flames.

Chief Mark Holcomb of the Dam B Fire Department said that while there were thankfully no injuries, the church building itself is unfortunately a "total loss" because of the damage it sustained during the fire.

Chief Holcomb also said that he is extremely thankful to the surrounding fire departments that showed up to help, as well as the community members that came out and were doing things like handing out water bottles to the firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but a Fire Marshall will be investigating the scene in the coming days according to Chief Holcomb.
