Small Business Administration to open disaster loan outreach centers in Jasper, Call, Woodville

The disaster loans are for residents who were affected the recent flooding, hail and straight-line winds that happened between April 8 - 26.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Small Business Administration (SBA) is opening three outreach centers so residents affected by the recent severe weather in Southeast Texas can apply for a disaster loan.

The disaster loans are for residents who were affected the recent flooding, hail and straight-line winds that happened between April 8 - 26, according to a SBA news release.

The storm period currently does not cover anything after April 26, in Southeast Texas, according to SBA public information officer Corey Williams.

However, the SBA plans to participate in a joint FEMA-SBA preliminary damage assessment in Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker counties he said.

More counties are likely to be added as preliminary damage assessments continue Williams said.  

The outreach centers will be located at the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center in Jasper, Trout Creek Fire Department in Call and Tyler County Emergency Operations Center in Woodville beginning Monday, May 6.

APPLY | Apply to receive additional disaster assistance from SBA

Businesses and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory and other assets.

The SBA can also lend additional funds to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize disaster damage from happening in the future.

Disaster loans up to $500,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, including vehicles.

Interest does not begin to accrue until 12 months from the day of the first disaster loan disbursement. SBA disaster loan repayment begins 12 months from the day of the first disbursement.

Applicants can apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information at SBA.gov/disaster. Applicants can also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. 

For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, they can dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

The deadline to apply for property damage is July 1, 2024. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Jan. 30, 2025.
