Residents of Beaumont apartment complex have gone five days without hot water

Emails acquired by 12News show that ongoing repairs to the complex's gas line are to blame.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Residents at the Glen Oak Apartments in Beaumont have gone five days without hot water.

Management has offered daily email updates of the situation but residents say they are getting impatient.

Emails acquired by 12News show that ongoing repairs to the complex's gas line are to blame. City inspectors still haven't signed off the work, so the gas is still shut off.

Residents are preparing to enter their sixth day without hot water.

"We boil water on the stove to at least shower," said Resident One, who wished to remain anonymous.

He says he fears retaliation by apartment management if his identity is shared.

Residents received an email from management on Friday telling them repairs to a gas line were complete  and they were due for a city inspection over the weekend.

A follow-up email Monday morning revealed repairs did not pass city inspection.

Then later in the afternoon residents were told they would have to wait even longer for repairs due to inclement weather.

"This is absurd and they seem to just keep putting it off," said Resident Two, who also wanted to be anonymous.

When 12News tried to speak with management on-site, we were referred to the owners, Ascension Commercial Real Estate. No one there has returned our calls.

Residents of Glen Oaks say in the wake of the water problems management has offered to move them across the street to the Lexington Apartments, which is also owned by Ascension.

"And I'm very, very irritated about it,' Resident Two said. "I have bad arthritis, so I need hot baths. And I need hot water. I need to shower. I mean it's 20 to 30 degree weather. People need hot water."

Management informed residents that once plumbing repairs to the gas pass city inspection, CenterPoint will install the gas meter.
