BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont councilman Randy Feldschau announced Sunday morning that he intends to run for Mayor of Beaumont in 2025.
Feldschau made the announcement before the congregation at One City Church in Beaumont where he has served as senior pastor for 18 years.
He is currently serving his third term on the Beaumont City Council where he holds one of two at-large seats.
“Since my first campaign for City Council in 2019, I have been encouraged by the citizens of Beaumont to run for mayor," said Feldschau. "As we approach the 2025 campaign, there has been a significant increase in people encouraging me to run."
Feldschau was raised in Southeast Texas and graduated from South Park High School, according to the City of Beaumont website. He’s been an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God since 1979.
When he was first elected to the council in 2019, he said wanted Beaumont residents to view him as a council member who happens to be a Christian rather than as a pastor, according to file stories.
"Our pledge says 'one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all,' and not for some," Feldschau said in 2019. "And I will represent all of Beaumont."
When he was running for his third term he said he hoped to continue his focus on public works, according to file stories.
“That you have clean water to make sure you have a functioning sewer system,” Councilman Feldschau told 12News in 2023. “To make sure your roads are drivable and make sure your first responders are supported and resourced."
He won his third term winning 30% of the vote in a crowded race of five candidates for the two at-large seats.
According to a press release, Councilman Feldschau feels that the City of Beaumont has reached a new level of frustration and is calling for strong leadership fueled by a determination to "simply do what is right."
He believes over the last five years, he has demonstrated his willingness to take a strong stand and make the difficult decisions for the citizens of Beaumont, according to a press release.
“I believe our city is in need of strong leadership, and I know I can help restore confidence in our city government,” said Feldschau.
If elected, his focus will include economic growth, city improvements, safety and security.
The municipal election will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
