PORT ARTHUR, Texas — One Port Arthur Independent School District student is something like a millionaire.
Wilson Early College Scholar, Alenka Porras-Lujan, has received over $1 Million in scholarship money and she’s only at the halfway mark.
Porras-Lujan, who is a first-generation college student, says that she applied for several academic scholarships. She has received offers from 15 colleges, thus far.
Porras-Lujan is currently considering attending Seton Hall University because she was accepted into their 3+3 program.
This program would allow Porras-Lujan to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in political science in just three years.
After that, Porras-Lujan plans on transitioning into the law school at Seton Hall to earn a Juris Doctorate degree.
The young student plans on running for president one day.
“So, I figured political science is the route to go,” said Porras-Lujan.
The teen says that she is also considering some in-state options.
“Baylor University, Lamar University and the University of Houston, are also options I am considering,” said Porras-Lujan.
Woodrow Wilson Early College High Principal Lasonya Baptiste says that the school is so proud of Porras-Lujan.
“She is an amazing young lady," said Baptiste.
