Port Arthur Police promotes officers, welcomes new faces at Swearing-In Ceremony Friday

During the ceremony seven officers were promoted, two cadets were welcomed as well as a Forensic Technician.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The Port Arthur Police Department is getting some new faces and promoting others already serving the community. 

The department held a swearing-in ceremony Friday, December 8, 2023 at Port Arthur City Hall. 

During the ceremony seven officers were promoted, two cadets were welcomed as well as a Forensic Technician. 

They each were surrounded by their families and given special certificates. 

The newly promoted officers were given pins for their uniforms showcasing their new titles. 

 Former patrol officer for 27 years Calvin Walker was promoted to Sergeant. 

"It's  a blessings, it's a great privilege to promote and assume that responsibility so I can better serve the community of Port Arthur," he said. 

Walker says in his new role as Sergeant he plans to be more involved in the community and find out what issues residents could be having so they can work together to come up with solutions.
