PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur Police officers are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a wooded area.
Lachrisha Abshire, 33, has been arrested and charged with murder after the body was found in Port Arthur Wednesday.
The man had injuries from an altercation leading to his death, according to a news release from PAPD.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Taylor Rodriguez.
Port Arthur Police Detective Sadie Guedry said a 911 call was made about an unresponsive body just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Rodriguez's body was found in a patch of woods behind Precision Tune Auto care in the 4900 block of Twin City Highway, according to Guedry. The area is not far from Walmart.
Marc DeRouen, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 in Jefferson County, pronounced the Rodriguez dead at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered.

On May 13, 2020 at approximately 12:54 PM, Port Arthur Dispatch received a report of an unresponsive person in a wooded area in the 5000 block of Twin City Hwy. Officers arrived on scene and located a male subject, who was deceased.
The victim sustained injuries during an altercation that investigators believe led to his death. A female white, identified as Lachrisha Abshire, 33 years of age, was taken into custody a short time later, and charged with Murder.
An autopsy has been ordered by Judge Derouen to determine the cause of death.
The identity of the victim will not be released until next-of-kin is notified.
