PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Three candidates are now in the running for Port Arthur mayor.
Voters will decide on their next mayor in May this year. Incumbent Derrick Freeman is facing challenges from two candidates: Thurman Bartie and Willie Lewis Jr.
Freeman also works in real estate in addition to City Hall. Bartie is a former Justice of the peace who is now a disaster case manager. Lewis is retired and a former Port Arthur city councilman.
Election day is May 4, 2019.
Editor's Note: 12News originally incorrectly reported Willie Lewis Jr. is a current Port Arthur city councilman. He is a former councilman whose term ended in May 2018. 12News regrets the error.
