Port Arthur Council announces appointment of new city attorney

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The Port Arthur Council has announced the appointment of a new city attorney after a unanimous vote Tuesday evening. 

Roxann Cotroneo, of San Antonio, was officially named Port Arthur's new city attorney during the council's regular July 30 meeting. 

Four candidates from across Texas were originally chosen to potentially become the next city attorney for Port Arthur. 

Cotroneo has over 29 years of municipal law experience and was with her own law office in San Antonio where she served as legal counsel for various cities and their officials and employees. 

She has a doctor of jurisprudence from St. Mary's School of Law in San Antonio and a bachelor's degree in government from University of Texas at Austin. 

Cotroneo completed the 32nd program of instruction for lawyers at Harvard Law.

She is scheduled to start on August 19.
