Missing Harris County teen now thought to be in the Beaumont area

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont Police Department and Harris County Sherriff's Office ae asking for the public's assistance in helping find a missing 14-year-old Harris County teen who is now believed to be in the Beaumont area.

Maxine Pontious was reported missing Thursday, February 22, 2024 by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, and was last seen wearing a large dark backpack, a large blue denim squared satchel bag and white tennis shoes. 

Harris County deputies told 12News on Friday that they believe she is in the Beaumont area.

Pontious is a 5'5" white female and is about 150 pounds. She has Brown eyes and brown hair that is cut in a mullet. 

According to the Harris County Sheriffs Office, Pontious may be currently going by the names Max or Alex.   

Beaumont Police say that Pontious was reported as missing instead of a runaway "due to potential mental health concerns". 

If anyone has seen Pontious, BPD urges them to call their office with any information.
