ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — A man is dead after being hit by a pickup truck in Orange County Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday, Dec. 13th, 2023, at 6:40 p.m., Orange Police Department officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of I-10N Service Road in reference to an auto-pedestrian crash.
When they got there, officers found a man, now identified as Scott Halstead, 51, had been struck by a pickup truck on the north service road, according to a news release from the Orange Police Department.
The driver of the pickup truck did stay on scene and spoke with authorities about the incident.
Orange County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Hershel Stagner pronounced Halstead dead and ordered an autopsy.
DPS, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orange Police, Orange Fire and Orange County ESD #4 responded to the scene.

On Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, at 6:40 P.M., Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the 12000 block of Interstate 10 North Service Road in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, Officers discovered a white male identified as Scott Halstead, DOB 12/18/1971, had been struck by a vehicle traveling on the north service road. The driver of that vehicle remained on scene and provided details about the incident. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Stagner later arrived on scene, pronounced Halstead deceased, and ordered an autopsy to be completed. This case is currently being investigated by the City of Orange Criminal Investigation Division.
