The county is holding a special meeting on Monday to initiate the bidding process for repairs.

LUMBERTON, Texas — The Park Rd bridge over Boggy Creek in Hardin County could be open again in about a month and a half a Hardin County official says.

Floodwaters caused mainly surface damage when it pushed water from the west side and lifted up the top layer of asphalt, according to Hardin County Precinct Three Commissioner Amanda Young.

Crews removed pieces of asphalt in order to check the base of the bridge and found that no structural damage had been done, she said.

While the county is in charge of repairs to the bridge, the Texas Department of Transportation is in charge of inspecting it, Young told 12News.

Currently county crews are still doing some work in preparation for repairs being made she said.

The county is holding a special meeting on Monday to initiate the bidding process and soon after the county will seek bids from contractors, according to Young.

The county hopes to have a contractor chosen within two weeks and to have the repairs completed a month and a half from now, Young told 12News.

Following Saturday's floods, Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel asked county residents to report any damage to the state via an online form.

McDaniel declared a disaster in the county Saturday morning after the overnight storms dumped nearly a foot of rain on a few areas of the county and triggered the closure of part of Interstate 10 in west Jefferson County for several hours.
