PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Anime fans and foodies alike will want to check out the massively popular Otaku Food Festival, coming to Port Arthur's Central Mall February 24-25.

Asian and Anime culture (Japanese animation) has seen a boom of popularity in the west in recent years, and the Otaku Food Festival is capitalizing on that with it's own unique combination of mouth-watering Asian street food and anime inspired booths and activities.

The two day festival, who's namesake is inspired by the Japanese word for "nerd", will feature over 100 food and drink vendors as well as dozens of anime vendors.

Otaku will also have other activities that may be a new experience for many Southeast Texas natives such as Sumo wrestling, cosplay contests, voice actor meet and greets, Lion Dances and more live entertainment, according to their social media accounts.

Even if someone is not particularly interested anime culture, the food itself may be something to check out. Food vendors will be dishing out food from all over Asia, this includes Filipino food, Japanese and Thai street food, Vietnamese grilled food and just about everything in between.

The event is free entry and free parking, attendees should make sure to bring cash.

For residents around the Golden Triangle looking to broaden their taste buds and cultural horizons the Otaku Food festival looks to be a great experience for all ages.
