The Orange Police Department is taking a closer look at one of their officer’s appearance in a music video that appears to promote the Black Lives Matter movement.
Because the investigation is internal, the department was not able to release the officer’s name.
The rap video addresses one of our country's most controversial social issues – violence involving police officers.
In the video, the officer is shaking the rapper’s hands and hugging him. Then she takes a picture with two protesters.
The video is entitled "Fight" on YouTube. The song is dedicated to "all lives lost to violence and police brutality" and shows the images of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and others who died in officer-involved shootings.
Cody Jones, who lived in Orange all his life recognized the local rapper named "Whip Game Proper."
He said he does not see anything wrong with the officer's appearance.
"I really don't think the Orange Police Department should be investigating anything,” Jones said. “Because it really ain't nothing wrong with what she has done."
He also applauds the police.
"They're not here to be the bad guys,” said Jones. “They're here to help us. They're here to get the bad people off the streets."
Kathy Henson of Orange said the community should unite to support law enforcement.
"They're out there to serve and protect, and I believe that we should stand by them."
We were unable to contact the officer involved to ask her thoughts. And the artist has so far not responded to our request for comment
