ORANGE, Texas — Orange County residents have a new place to eat. The Orange County Truck Yard opened off of Highway 87 Tuesday.
This is the county's first food truck park. Nine months of blood, sweat and tears finally brought the first phase of this food truck park to life.
The owner, Marcy Taylor said the timing is right for something like this in Orange County.
With an industry boom, like Chevron Phillip's expansion project, Taylor believes this gives Southeast Texas chefs a chance to serve their food to a new audience.
"The idea came from with the new Chevron Phillips coming in. Everyone is coming in and putting in RV parks. There definitely is a food shortage resource in our area. So I decided to do a food truck park," Taylor said.
She had the idea of bringing different types of foods to people who are moving to Orange County.
Food truck owners like Jason Montagne, owner of Bullfish, are excited to be apart of it.
"It's great, more reach, more opportunity. Getting your name out there, that's part of it," said Montagne.
Taylor said it's location off Hwy 87 makes it accessible. She's planning for it to be a staple in the area. Food truck owners also hope it's successful.
"It's tricky sometimes to be ahead of the curve, like this place here. Will people latch on? I hope so, because everyone wants that big city feel in a small town," Taylor told 12News.
Seven food truck partners are ready to serve up the different flavors that make up Southeast Texas culinary experience.
"It's a different place that they can come and relax and have a variety of food. Have a good atmosphere, music, very family friendly. Like I said we will have yard games," Taylor said.
There are more things to expect, with plans to expand the truck park into Phase Two by January.
"We are going to have a lawn area, fire pits and yard games. Become dog friendly and eventually put in a small dog park," said Taylor.
The food truck park is located near the Orange County airport and the Golden Triangle Polymers plant at 4158 Hwy 87 S.
