VIDOR, Texas — Orange County commissioners have approved the first increase in rates in more than 30 years at Claiborne Park and Raymond Gould Center.
Rates will go up at the Expo Center as well.
Precinct 2 commissioner Chris Sowell says that the money will stay in the parks department budget to help continue to improve the facilities.
"We've done improvements to the parks, new playground equipment at Raymond Gould Park, Claiborne Park and Bluebirds," Sowell said.
Sowell says that the county has spent approximately $300,000 improving the parks, noting a new walking track at Raymond Gould Park and making the parks handicap accessible.
At Claiborne Park there will be an additional fee of $50 for one-day use of Raymond Gould Community Center, and reservation fee increase from $10.00 to $20.00 camping fee increase from $3 to $10 (Maximum of three-night stay).
If a client is wanting to make reservations at the park or the Raymond Gould Center one day a month, there will be a $50 monthly fee along with one $100 security deposit.
Security deposits for monthly reservations would be refunded at end of calendar year, and would have to be refunded and another reservation made for the next year. If monthly renters do not adhere to cleaning check list they are subject to loss of use for remainder of year.
For a non-profit Organization with a 501-C Tax Status there would be no $50.00 Fee just $100.00 security deposit (currently nonprofits are not charged a security deposit at Raymond Gould Center or Reservation Fee at Claiborne Park).
Non-Profit organization can only reserve 1 day a month on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
