ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Orange County now has a new Tax Assessor/Collector after Karen Fisher resigned.
The Orange County Commissioners Court met on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and voted unanimously to appoint Octavia Guzman to the position.
Fisher has been the Orange County Tax Assessor/Collector for more than 30 years. She announced her retirement last month, effective July 31, however her term does not end until December 31.
Guzman, has worked in the tax office for more than 10 years. She ran unopposed for the office in the March Republican primary race and there is no Democrat contender.
