ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Commissioners in Orange County have named a new County Judge to replace the judge who resigned earlier this month.
Orange County Commissioners Court met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss filing the vacancy of county judge and named Carl Thibodeaux to fill the vacancy left by Dean Crooks.
Crooks abruptly resigned less than a year into his first term as county judge earlier this month.
Thibodeaux will serve for the remainder of Crooks term through the end of 2020.
Crooks, who retired from the Beaumont Police Department in 2015, began his term as county judge in May 2018 according to his bio on the Orange County website.
