JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — A 52-year-old Beaumont woman was killed following a Monday evening wreck along U.S. Highway 90 in west Jefferson County.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating the two-vehicle wreck that claimed the life of Quintella Zenon, 52, of Beaumont, according to a news release from DPS.
The wreck happened along U.S. 90 just west of McDerman Rd.
Zenon was driving a Chevrolet Camaro east on Old Nome Rd and while crossing the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90 to turn onto eastbound U.S. 90, troopers said.
She did not yield the right of way to a Toyota Highlander, driven by a 36-year-old Beaumont woman,that was headed west on U.S. 90 and the Camaro was struck on the driver side the release said.
Zenon was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Precinct Four Justice of the Peace Justin Chesson.
The driver of the Toyota and a child passenger were taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with non-life threatening injuries according to the release.
