A spokesperson for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who died in a fireworks-related accident on New Year’s Eve.
The victim is identified as Rory Allen McGlynn, 49.
Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Kenny Davenport told 12News the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Burns Drive. This is just northwest of Silsbee in the Stones Throw addition.
Chief Deputy Davenport said witnesses told investigators McGlynn had a large firework on his shoulder that immediately exploded when he lit it. The explosion caused severe wounds to his chest and shoulder. Deputies performed CPR on him before he was loaded into an Acadian Ambulance. McGlynn was en route to the hospital when he passed away.
The incident remains under investigation.
