KIRBYVILLE, Texas — A young boy was found dead in a pond after he had been missing for hours.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a missing child located on County Road 474 in Kirbyville on Thursday around 11 a.m.
The deputies were told that a 3-year-old boy had went missing from a house in the early hours of April 23.
The boy's parents said he was last seen around 7 a.m. Thursday morning. When the parents woke up around 9:30 a.m., they noticed the front door was open.
Multiple law enforcement agencies began searching the area immediately after finding out the information.
Authorities found the boy's body in one of the ponds on a property that the parents were house sitting, according to Chief Deputy Scott Duncan.

- Silsbee police
In addition to the multiple agencies that assisted in the search, the Vernon Parish sent out blood hounds, and people from the public also aided in the search of the boy.
