NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — A father and son are both running for law enforcement positions in Newton and Jasper County.
Newton County Precinct One Constable Colton Havard announced Saturday afternoon that he is running for Newton County Sheriff. His father, Chuck Havard is running for Jasper County Sheriff.
"I believe in professional law enforcement, credible law enforcement, law enforcement that you can depend on. They'll show up and do an efficient investigation in a professional manner," Havard said during his announcement speech.
The incumbent, Robert Burby is running for re-election.
