Beaumont will be getting new stores and restaurants as development is currently underway in Parkdale Mall near Dowlen Road.
The old Toys R' Us and Babies R' Us space off of Eastex Freeway is being renovated for a Big Lots. The discount retailer sells electronics, home furnishings, food and seasonal items.
For the first time, Beaumont will be getting a Steak 'n Shake off of Crow Road, which should be completed mid-February.
"Steak 'n Shake is a great place and I'm excited to see it come to Beaumont," said Orange resident Debra Olds.
Olds said new development means new jobs.
"It helps for the younger people to have more job opportunities," said Olds.
The grocery chain called Aldi will be replacing Gander Mountain off of Eastex Freeway.
Parkdale Mall plans on getting a Homegoods and a Dick's Sporting Goods. The sporting retail chain will replace what used to be Macy's.
Beaumont Councilman W.L. Pate said that the majority of the projects should be finished within the next three months.
