New Port Neches Riverfront restaurant scheduled to open this year

The restaurant plans to serve seafood with an Asian Cajun influence and will feature indoor, outdoor dinning.

PORT NECHES, Texas — An entrepreneur has broken ground on a first of its kind restaurant that will be located on the Port Neches Riverfront, with a special "entertainment complex" feature that's exciting for all ages.

The new building has been in the works for years and Port Neches residents should expect the doors to open later this year.

"We're trying to bring something new to the area," said Min Dai.

Rumors have filled the air of what's coming next to the Port Neches Riverfront for years.

"I think it's gonna give people a variety and something different," said Dai.

12News was able to take a look at the new venture breaking ground.

"A bit of what you call it entertainment complex, to provide a facility that's not just a family restaurant, but for families to have something to do while they're dining and post dining," said Dai.

Dai says that the restaurant will be family oriented.

"It will be a family oriented restaurant first and it will also house the first full service pickleball facility in Southeast Texas," he said. "And the idea is a family can come out and not have to look for something else afterwards, when they can just find everything in one area."

With the construction phase underway, the restaurant is beginning to take shape.

"Without divulging too much, it will be a cabin style, we will have indoor outdoor seating," he said.

The restaurant plans to serve seafood with an Asian Cajun influence and will feature indoor and outdoor dinning.

"We are going to be seafood oriented, we try to make everything in house from your marinates to your sauces and also introducing new items and allowing some Asian influence on what you would normally not find," said Dai.

Dai says he's hoping for doors to open near the end of the year and without the support of the community, the new venture would not be possible.

"Southeast Texas has been great to us," he said. "If you do right by the community, and this area, they will definitely be right by you."

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
