PORT NECHES, Texas — Neches Regional Flood Planning Group is searching for solutions to reduce the risk of flooding.
Leaders met with residents Tuesday night to learn more about what areas face the highest risk.
Surveys were sent up for residents to either put it on the map or take a survey about their past flooding experiences in their area.
The planners said they will take the data they collected and incorporate it into the state flood plan.
“Outreach like this is to get public input so that this becomes a ground-level grassroots effort to improve our neighborhoods, our communities, our homes, and not a central government planning issue being pushed down from Austin,” said Port Neches Valley Authority general manager Scott Hall.
The planning committee said they want to get as much community feedback as possible. If you missed the meeting, you can still take the survey at nechesfloodplanning.org.
