Neches Brewing Company announces closing at end of year

The brewery, which opened on Port Neches Ave in 2016, has been struggling for the past few months.

PORT NECHES, Texas — After New Year's eve you won't be able to take one down and pass it around at a Port Neches Ave brew pub.

After eight years in business, Neches Brewing Company will be shutting its doors for good on December 31, 2024, according to a post on its Facebook page.

The brewery, which opened on Port Neches Ave in 2016, has been struggling for the past few months.

In September 2024, a former employee of the brewery created a GoFundMe that raised more than $20,000 goal. But it in the end it wasn't enough to save the brewery.

During the summer of 2023, brewery owner, Tyler Blount had plans to expand, but he told 12News in September that those plans had been brought to a halt.

"We're selling the whole property right now, the old Pour Brothers Brewery in downtown Beaumont. We can't afford to keep the note up over there," Blount told 12News in September.

Blount said inflation caused operation costs to skyrocket, even as customers continue to poured in.

"Expenses go up, revenue stays the same. That doesn't work. We're just trying to get more people in here to offset that, but the buck is constantly getting passed down through the end consumer, and nobody's gonna pay $10 for a beer," Blount told 12News previously.

Before opening the brewery, Blount started brewing beer in his garage in 2011 with a home brew kit that he bought from eBay.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
