Early morning house fire claims three lives in Kountze

Witnesses reported seeing flames coming from the double-wide mobile home.

KOUNTZE, Texas — The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office along with Kountze, Lumberton and Silsbee fire departments responded to an early morning house fire in the 5400 block of Lakewood Drive in Kountze around 2:20 am.

Witnesses reported seeing flames coming from the double-wide mobile home, according to Sheriff Mark Davis.

The fire claimed three lives, including two children. Three people, Braxton Barrow, 4 Blake Alexander, 11 and Rhett Barrow, 27 were found dead inside the home. Monica Landry, 34 and a small infant escaped and were transported to the hospital, according to Davis.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
