Body found after search for missing man who ran into the Gulf, fled game warden near McFaddin Beach

When deputies resumed the search Sunday morning, two people walking on the beach told investigators they discovered the body of a man washed up on shore.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office recovered a body after a man went missing on the beach Saturday afternoon.

The man has been identified as 56-year-old Stuart Gay of Port Neches.

A game warden at McFaddin Beach saw Gay trying to commit suicide Dec. 1 around 4 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's office said. He fled from the game warden in his vehicle, left his car and ran into the water.

Gay was last seen by the game warden about 200 yards out into the Gulf of Mexico. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office's Marine Unit conducted a search and brought a helicopter on scene.

When deputies resumed the search around 8 a.m. Sunday morning, two people walking on the beach about 12 miles south of the McFaddin Wildlife Refuge entrance told investigators they discovered Gay's body washed up on shore.
