Man suffering from 'extensive' burns after reportedly lighting himself on fire during argument

According to BPD witnesses say that the man was arguing with a woman when he became "irate" and began acting erratically.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A 37-year-old man is reportedly in critical but stable condition after he lit himself on fire during an argument Saturday morning.

The Beaumont Police Department received a call for family violence in the 500 block of Iowa at around 10:30 a.m.

As officers arrived at the address they reportedly saw the man being taken by ambulance to the BMT Municipal Airport to be flown to Galveston due to extensive burns.

According to BPD witnesses say that the man was arguing with a woman when he became "irate" and began acting erratically.

The man reportedly then grabbed a container of lighter fluid and began dowsing himself with it then attempted to spray the woman with it.

After this the man grabbed a lighter and lit himself on fire.
