BEAUMONT, Texas — Police in Port Arthur are investigating a fatal wreck that claimed the life of a 38-year-old Groves man early Tuesday morning.
A 38-year-old Groves man, now identified as Jeffrey Nevills, was killed in the single-car wreck that happened at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso.
The wreck happened along northbound Texas Highway 82 just past the underpass at Texas Highway 73 in Port Arthur, according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr.
This is about a mile east of the intersection of West Port Arthur Rd and Texas Highway 73.
The cause of the wreck, in which the car left the roadway and came to rest in a grassy area, is unknown, he said.
Collins pronounced Nevills dead and has ordered an autopsy.
