BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas — Luxury condominiums are coming to Bolivar Peninsula, giving future residents a beautiful view of the bay.
The developers behind the project are based in Austin, but CEO Jason Caraway of Sky Investments is from Silsbee and spent his summers on Crystal Beach.
"I've just always wanted to come back home and do a project," Caraway said. "I grew up going down to Crystal Beach and being at Bolivar, fishing down there, running the road and we have a lot of family and friends still in the area."
This land on the bay will soon feature 32 luxury condo units, a new bulkhead around the property, a boat ramp and a resort-style pool.
Caraway says the best part, is the low maintenance.
"It's less upkeep for the owners, it's easy, it's you come, you enjoy your property, lock up and you leave," Caraway said.
A key selling point for developers is, of course, going to be the beautiful sunset on Bolivar Peninsula.
Neighbor Lynn Mlack says there is concerns about utilities, which are already struggling, but she's happy to see growth in the area.
"Oh yeah yeah everybody has been talking about it," Mlack said. "I think a lot of people are about it, they like to see new improvements on the peninsula."
Builders are still working on the design and plan to start construction on the first units in the next two months.
Caraway says while they will be luxurious, they will still be affordable.
"I think they are still very reasonably priced for what we will be delivering, if you were to go to Galveston across the ferry, the price differences in the condos over there, it's staggering," Caraway said.
