Lumberton first responders wrangle gator out of ditch

Lumberton Police initially got the call because the gator was trying to cross the road (presumably to get to the other side).

LUMBERTON, Texas — Lumberton first responders along with help from a rancher were able to wrangle an alligator out of ditch on Tuesday.

An 8.5 foot gator was found in the ditch in front of the Early Childhood School on Highway 96. Lumberton Police initially got the call because the gator was trying to cross the road (presumably to get to the other side).

Lumberton Police, fire, EMS and the game warden were called out to help.

At the direction of the game warden, a rancher who stopped to help used his trailer to transport the gator to another location.
