LABELLE — Jean and Jacque Ross have had a touch ten years, their home flooded twice. After Hurricane Ike they chose to rebuild their home but after Harvey they decided to raise their home.
"We loved our home, we didn't really want to get rid of it," Jacque Ross said.
The president of Excello Homes Jim Griffin says this isn't a simple project, the workers have to get down and dirty.
"We go underneath and tunnel under the home and dig all the way underneath. We do have engineering, so our engineer does look at it and do a lot of the designs on how we're going to do our foundation, how we're going to do our columns, how we are going to tie everything in to make sure it's going to last for a long long time," Griffin said.
When this project is finished the home will be ten feet higher than it was before. The Ross's hope that this lift lowers their chances of ever flooding again.
"We thought it was going to be a hundred year flood and in nine years it happened again. So there isn't going to be a third time," Jean Griffin said.
