BEAUMONT, Texas — In an email to parents, Beaumont Independent School District announced that it would be recommending the closure of King Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year.
Beaumont ISD cites under-enrollment and a poor campus rating as the main reasons for the schools potential closure.
According to BISD The Board of Trustees will have a meeting to discuss the possible closure of the campus tomorrow March, 21.
The district says that while this decision may be disheartening to some, it was not made lightly and it is in the best interest of the students.
King Middle School parents will be notified of their children's new school assignments for the 2024-2025 school year by Wednesday, April 17 if needed.
Beaumont ISD says that they will discuss further details with parents in a meeting on March, 27.
Classes will continue as usual until the current school year is over.
