PORT ARTHUR, Texas — There will be a new cupid in Port Arthur on Valentine's Day and his name is Justice of Peace Joseph Guillory II.
Judge Guillory will perform free wedding ceremonies on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Every other day during the "month of love," Judge Guillory will perform ceremonies for $50.
The Port Arthur judge is performing the free ceremonies to give back to his community.
Judge Guillory plans to make each holiday special as a way to show his appreciation to the Southeast Texas community and help others in any way he can.
Voters in Jefferson County's precinct two picked Guillory as their new justice of the peace during the November elections. He beat Kyrin Baker and Brandon Bartie for the seat, replacing former Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen.
Judge Guillory is a lifelong resident of Port Arthur.
During his campaign, Judge Guillory previously told 12News he wanted to focus on fair representation, equitable treatment, and saving taxpayers' money.
"Being accessible and relatable to your constituents,” Guillory said. “Being available when they call, showing up when they need you. Those things are important, and I want to be a part of that because I am a community activist. I feel that I'm a community leader. I've demonstrated my leadership throughout the years "
