Jaws of life used due to car crash on hwy 62 and Texla road

First responders responded to a call about an accident off of highway 62 and Texla road in Orange County Wednesday evening. 

First responders responded to a call about an accident off of highway 62 and Texla road in Orange County Wednesday evening.

Department of Public Safety had received the call at 6:20p.m.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a 1994 ford pickup truck and a 1999 Honda passenger vehicle. The truck attempted to make a left turn onto FM 2802 and struck the Honda.

The driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Rebecca Pearl of Orange was trapped inside the vehicle until responders used the jaws of life to release her from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital. Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The 16-year-old boy from Vidor and driver of the truck did not have any injuries. He was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way-turning left.

Sergeant Stephanie Davis stated that highway 62 was partially closed for about an hour and is now reopened.
