JASPER, Texas — Family, friends and members of the community are remembering a man who was injured while performing an act of service for someone in the community.
Carl Johnson, 62, of Jasper was injured while cutting a tree for a person living in the community on FM 254 north of FM 2799.
When responders arrived, they discovered that Johnson was severely injured after a tree limb fell.
He was treated by the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Jasper EMS before being transported by Air Rescue to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
He succumbed to his injuries last Thursday after staying in the hospital for 24 days after the accident.
The family of Johnson is asking for help from the community with funeral expenses.
Johnson's passing was unexpected, according to his daughter Ebony Johnson.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. in Jasper.
