FANNETT, Texas — Volunteers from Nehemiah's Vision in Vidor worked alongside members of Grace Community Church in Fannett Friday to give storm victims a little relief. They say one thing is clear. Even a month after the storm, families are still hurting, and some haven't even started gutting homes.

Brian Jewell told us, even at the age of 60, he's not afraid of a little hard labor. "I'm amazed at what these families went through," Jewell said.

Volunteers arrived Thursday, and they hope to remove sheet rock and flooring from about a dozen properties within the next few days.

"We are thankful for what we have, and so we are able to give back. We are pumping each other up," Jewell explained.

Jewell promises to keep up momentum. His driving force? Homeowners like Jack Droddy.

"People like this are life savers. (We have) great people around here. We look after each other, do what we can to help" Droddy said.

He was overwhelmed by the organization's generosity. "Things will get better."

Nehemiah's Vision promises to keep sharing that message with their good work. "The Lord calls us to do work, and that is what we are doing," Jewell said.
