BEAUMONT, Texas — A popular playground in Central Park will be closed soon due to upcoming renovations that include the installation of new, safer equipment.

Imagination Station playground, located in Central Park will be closed starting May 7.
Old playground equipment is scheduled to be removed and new equipment will be installed.
The new playground will include ADA accessible equipment and covered seating, according to a release from the City of Beaumont.
The city's goal is to improve the park system so that all visitors, of every age can enjoy.
For safety reasons, the area will be closed until the new playground equipment is completely installed.
Beaumont City Council members approved the installation of new equipment at Imagination Station back in 2023.
Central Park, located at 640 South Fourth St. includes a .33-mile jogging trail, covered shelter, a water playground, basketball and tennis courts, plus more.
